Sovereign Chains Infrastructure Partners: Chain Abstraction via XION

Web3 is steadily innovating and growing. Alongside the constant expansion, there’s also a consensus feeling that we are close to reaching the maximum potential in the current state. And to overcome that, we need to eliminate as much jargon, friction points, and unfamiliar experiences as possible.

XION, an L1 purpose built for consumer adoption, has been spot on in identifying this much-needed upgrade and is building a Chain Abstraction solution with the goal of extending its seamless UX to connecting chains. As the number of integrated chains grows, they get closer and closer to creating an environment where blockchains are just invisible backends and not a perpetual crash course at each user step.

Through our collaboration, XION will initially focus on bringing its Chain Abstraction tools to Sovereign Chains. Teams developing their specialized blockchain solutions with our SDK will be able to leverage XION’s powerful product suite to remove any technology obstacle for regular people.

The options set to further complement our infrastructure stack for launching sovereign blockchains include: (1) user interactions without needing to manage gas fees in native tokens (2) wallet creation with social web2 login (3) fiat denominated pricing (4) abstracted cross-chain bridging; and more!

For example, a game deployed on a Sovereign Chain could use XION to allow its players to enjoy the gameplay without ever knowing about the concept of gas fees.

Whilst similar L2 solutions are designed to provide better performance for a certain base layer, Sovereign Chains are compatible with all major networks and have a much more comprehensive scope. 

MultiversX has delivered the first truly scalable sharding architecture in 2020. Shortly after this impressive milestone, we began researching the possibility of extending the components that enable the seamless cross-shard experience on our network to the cross-chain ecosystem. Those ideas are now lines of code in production, contributing to a major breakthrough for the entire crypto space.
