The world’s seas and oceans are a great defender against climate change. They have soaked up one third of all the CO2 produced since the industrial revolution and absorbed 90% of the warming that has taken place in the past 50 years.
Protecting the aquatic ecosystems is therefore essential for global sustainability. Aquaverse is doing just that, with the help of NFTs and Web3 gaming. Proceeds from their entertaining blockchain products go towards funding sea sponge based products for bioremediation.
Sea sponges are remarkable for their ability to filter microplastics, heavy metals and other unwanted chemicals. The Aquaverse team is putting them to good use and building water purification projects and products. A part of the generated revenue is shared with the NFT holders.
They have four proof of concepts projects ongoing, and the implementation of their ideas has earned them recognition at the biggest European tech conference VivaTech, where they shared the stage with CZ, Vitalik, and other leaders of major companies, to receive the "Espace Digital Réinventé" prize.
